"Bundessieger" (= Federal Winner) all breed dog show in Dortmund, 13.10.2005

Normally the traditional "Bundessieger" lasts for 3 days. But this year the German Kennel Club (VDH) celebrated his 100th anniversary. On this occasion 2 CACIB shows were held the same weekend: The "Bundessieger" (Federal Winner) and the "Jahrhundertsieger" (Century Winner). Both shows were combined with the fair "dog + horse". Unfortunately the VDH still is not very clever in organizing these big events. Many participants had to walk several kilometers from the parking ground to the exhibition halls. The entry for the Terrier hall, shown in the map, was closed. But who managed to find the lift received a very friendly service in the end.
Terriers were judged Friday afternoon. Of course many exibitors of the breeds that were judged in the morning had not yet left the rings. Quite some confusion until everybody settled. For the Scotties it also was difficult to take part in the competitions in the main ring as the veterans and the breeding classes already started before the judging in the Scottie ring finished. Bot for other breeds conditions were even worse. When we left the exhibition center arond 8:00 o'clock in the evening, the Mastiffs were still judged. It was a pity that there was no time to visite the horse exhibition that was located in separated halls.

Our breed was judged by Torsten Himmrich, himself a Scottie breeder in the 80ies and 90ies. His female "Multi Ch. Downtown Ginger" (bred by B. Bruweleit) was World Winner and best of breed in Dortmund 1991. Several successful dogs came also from his own kennel "Fellow". At this time Torsten Himmrich is not active in breeding - as far as I know. He also is the judges representative in the German Terrier Club KFT.
