Sir Darnley's annual review 2008

There were many highlights in 2008 but it also was clouded by a great loss.

2003 2004 2007
In June 2008 we sadly had to say good bye to our Ch. Sir Darnley's Kiss-Curl Kylie. She was 11 years and died from bladder cancer.

Kylie was a great Scottie personality. Last year she slept a lot and her daughter Nellie took over the leadership in our Scottie family. Only in special cases Kylie still felt responsable. She loved to accompany us to the horses. Until the last days she poked around and stole carrots and rolls.

We miss this friend so much. Every day we are reminded of her because her progeny got her impish character.

2005

In 2008 no puppies were born in our kennel.

But the 7 dwars of our S litter, born on 26.11.2007, stayed with us until 2008 (S: Ch. Ayrzol Jumanji, M: Ch. Sir Darnley's Nosy Nellie). Together with mom Nellie we had a lot of work to give these powerful gang the attention they needed.

In the meantime all 7 settled in their new families and we have met nearly all of them again.

Due to Kylie's illness and to the big litter we were not able to take a real holiday together. But there were some short breaks instead and here I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Rainer, who looked so well after Kylie, the puppies and the rest of our Scottie family in the meantime.

Crufts 2008 Open Dog
First of all Crufts in Birmingham was on the agenda in March. Together with Inga Flamang (Westies vom Märchengarten) and Helma van Wieringen (owner of Mortimer and Nick) I visited the worlds biggest dog show. Being back to England after so many years - marvellous. This show has a unique air and I guess the most international audience.

A shorter report in German was published in our club journal "DER TERRIER" (=>HERE<= you will find the homepage of the German "Scottish Terrier Förderverein", please click on "Ausgabe 05/2008"), the more detailed report is still to be finished. :-)

In April I had a long weekend in Denmark. At first I visited Spark and his new family. Then two shows in Hedensted followed, where the picture above right was taken from Spark with his parents.

Finally I also visited Kirsten and Grethe Toftkjær (Kennel Scotsman and Runehoj).

At least I managed to see the North-Sea even though we were not able to spend our holiday in Henne-Strand (Danish coast).

My parents had a nice holiday week in Oostkapelle (Dutch coast). Here I visited them for a few days together with Nellie, Ruby and Scully.

=>HERE<= are a few more pictures.

In October I was back in England again. Hermann Vehreschild (Kennel Rose's) and I made a round trip to visit some breeders in the Scotties home country.

We had some lovely and and in some parts adventurous days. We experienced a lot of hospitality and enthusiasm for the Scottie breed.

Again a detailed report will follow. Once again I beg for your patience.

The Sir Darnley's in the show ring:

Altogether I was at 29 shows with the Sir Darnley's in 2008 - I guess this was a record. At the same time it was a most successful year for our Scotties.

We went to Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Denmark. 4 different Sir Darnley's (Orla, Q, Ruby and Reggae) managed to gain altogether 21 x best of breed. Added by 3 x Best Junior in Show, 2 x best low legged Terrier, 3 x Best in Show and diverse Group Placements.

Following titles were won: 3 x KFT-Junior Ch., 1 x VDH-Junior Ch., 2 x Dutch Junior Ch., 1 x Luxembourg Junior Ch., 2 x Luxembourg Ch., 1 x Danish Ch., 1 x VDH Rheinland Winner, 1 x VDH European Winner, 1 x VDH European Junior Winner, 2 x KFT Klub Winner, 1 x KFT Klub Junior Winner, 1 x Bundes Junior Winner and 2 x Amsterdam Winner!

And finally: Ch. Sir Darnley's Qubic Q is by far TOP SCOTTIE in Germany! Runner up goes to J. Ch. Sir Darnley's Rambling Ruby, mainly coming from Junior class. This phantastic result makes me very proud, even though the Top Scottie is no official competition in Germany. Q and Ruby are in 5th generation homebred.

Sir Darnley's Splendid Spark

Sincere thanks to all friends for all their help and also to all judges for these phantastic show season!!!

Don't worry, I will stay "down-to-earth". But I guess most of Scottie breeders will understand that I am proud of these outstanding success - being a really small breeder for 20 years.

=>Here<= you find a chronic of all shows and results that we have visited in 2008.

=>Here<= are all results according to each dog.

In 2009 I don't want to show as much as last year - that are the plans until now. For sure I will show more outside Germany. And two dates are already fixed: Crufts and our holiday in Denmark in June. North-Sea we are coming!!!

I wish all Scottie enthusiasts a lot of fun with my site further on
