International Dog Show Kortrijk (B), 15.11.2009
Entered Scotties: 12
Judge: Mr. Harry O’Donoghue (IRE)
As usual in
Belgium, the show halls are dark and not very comfortable. But anyhow the
comitee of the Eurodogshow in Kortrijk always manage to create special
ambiance. Especially the competitions in the main ring are great events.
This show attracts many international trade booths and also a great number
of spectators.
The Belgium Scottish Terrier Club always has a club table and all Scottie exhibitors are invited for a drink and a snack after judging. Often specialists from various countries are invited to judge the Terrier breeds. Personally I have got a very special memory of this show: 1993 Dorothee Standen (Kennel Tambrae, GB) judged the Scotties. My Sir Darnley's Gretna Green went Best of Breed coming from junior class and in the main ring she also won the Terrier Group! 2009 there was no declared breed specialist. But with Harry O'Donoghue from Ireland the Scotties were judged by a great Terrier personality. He breeds Fox-, Lakeland- and Norwich Terrier in his kennel Blackdale. Harry O'Donoghue had the great honour to judge the Terrier Group at Crufts 2009. Additionally a Foxterrier bitch from his breeding is Top winning Terrier and Top Dog All Breed in GB, 2009: GB/Irish Ch. Blackdale Carousel (Owner: Andres Goodsell). |

In the mainring of Kortrijk
Q nearly simulated his great-grandmother Gretna's success: Sir Darnley's Qubic Q was 2nd. in Terrier Group, judge: Peter Lauber, Switzerland. Bester Terrier was the Kerry Blue who later went Best in Show. |
