12.02.2009 Even though this picture does not show: The puppies are getting more alert. You can hear new voices in the box: growling and barking. |
13.02.2009 Today Orla's puppies are 3 weeks old. Time for the first little tour in the living room. |
Back in the welping box the adventures are being "discussed". :-) |
19.02.2009 Today the trios godmother, Nicole Meissner, is coming for a visit. |
20.02.2009 Orla's are now 4 weeks of age. Today it's time for their first removal: From living room into puppy room next door. The whelping box is opened so the three can use the whole room.We have mounted a shelf between the two rooms so Orla can jump in or out whenever she wants. |
Now finally they get their first food. As they don't really like puppy milk they get soaked puppy food with some meet - mmmh, this tasts fine! |
21.02.2009 And sometimes mom pops in with the milk bar. |

Addition to 19.02.2009
New Nicole took these pictures of Orla's sweet trio. |
23.02.2009 In the meantime Orla allows her older daughter Ruby to visit the puppies in their room. May be she had a good sense? At this time we did not new anything about the disaster Orla carried in her. She still seemed to be happy nursing her puppies. Just during the night she prefers to sleep outside the puppies room. Orla's trio loves to sleep on the soft toy. |
03.03.2009 Just 10 days later we have lost our Orla and the babys their mom - unthinkable.
Orla suddenly signalised that she had pain. We thought she had a pyometra but during the surgery it turned out that Orla had cancer allover. We could not believe that it was impossible to help her. Orla, you were such a brave girl, nursing your puppies until the last day. We miss your kind-hearted character so much. Unbelievable that you are no longer with us! |
