Holidays in Henne Strand in house "La Cabina"

Aaach, finally back to the west coast!
Due to job-related reasons we have not had any holidays in 2005.
All the more we were looking forward to this week in Denmark.

 

This time we booked "La Cabina". It lays at the dead end of a small road on top of a sandune.

Hopefully no additional houses will be built here.

   

Of course our Scottie family accompanies us:

The dogs feel at home immediately and start to investigate the big site.

   
In front of the house there is another terrace, also with a lovely view to heath and forrest.

Many people at the part of the beach that is close to the parking place ...

   
... but already 200m away there are just a very few people.

In the off-peak seasons here the dogs can move free. Of course we pay attention that nobody is disturbed by our Scotties.

As a matter of course "left overs" are picked up into small plastic bags.

Just one afternoon Kirsten Toftkjaer (Kennel Scotsman) visited us together with her mom Grete (Kennel Runehoj) and their cousin Esther from Canada.

Again not much time to exchange all news. But luckily we met again during my trip a few days later.

It is now 20 years ago that we met the first time at the show in Åhus 1986!

In the 60ies there were just a small store named "Købmand Hansen", where also the few summer cottages around could be booked.

Today "Købmand Hansen" is a super marked. And the catalogue of "Købmand Hansen's Feriehusudlejning" has quite the widest range of summer houses.

A real small village developed with lots of shops and coffee bars. I always look forward to a shopping tour through Henne Strand.

"Our" summer cottage is the last one in a dead-end street.

"La Cabina" is very cosy. The furnishing has many private looking details.

My favorite place on the front terrace with a view over dunes and heath. In the afternoon there is time for reading and laze around.

From her own small dune Orla also enjoyes the nice view!

As always holidays are over much too quickly! Already now we are looking forward to return next year!
