June 2009

Holiday in Henne Strand house "Bygd"

Ups, does this look like the "rough North"? Of course! This is Henne Strand in West Jutland in Denmark. It is beginning of June and Denmark welcomes us with lovely summer weather and fantastic sunsets.

For the last 2 years we did not really have holiday. Now we feel we really deserve it.

Sir Darnley's Splendid Spark and his owners Anne and Thomas live in Randers, app. 200km away. On Sunday the come to visit us in Henne Strand.

Anne cuddles our 5 month old Tasty. This is her first holiday.

Spark developed nicely. He is full of spirit and a joy for the whole family. It always is exiting to meet our offspring again.

Off we go with the whole pack to the beach. Are these show dogs?

Anyway - we are on holiday!

Tom has fun with the dogs in the water.

Ups - what's wrong?

Suddenly there are 8 Scotties on the beach. The solution: Our friends Nicole and Horst also spend their holiday in Henne Strand and we meet them with their  3 Scotties Laura, Daphne and Reggae at the beach.

A wonderful chaos.

Having a break. Q is busy to avoid that Spark is stealing one of his girls. Everybody else is relaxing.

In the evening on the terrace. Especially for Tasty the first days are very exiting. Now she's got to sleep.

We already have been in house "Bygd" some years back.

It is a small, old, simple but very charming house. It is situated alone on top of a sand dune. The terrace is well sheltered from the wind and from the livingroom you have a marvelous view over the dunes and the North Sea.

Sir Darnley's Qubic Q

Like every year, our friend Kirsten Toftkjær (Kennel Scotsman) come to spend some days with us. We both brought lots of pictures. As always we discuss and laugh a lot.

We also learned much about the Cesky Terriers, whose breed representative Kirsten in in Denmark.

But of couse Scotties are our top theme. Kirsten brought Jora along. She is a daughter of Ch. Sir Darnley's Magical Mascot.

Jora is owned by Kirsten and her mother Grethe Toftkjær  (Kennel Runehoj).

Jora and Ruby, two cousins.

By this occation we also take a new picture of our Tasty.

Sir Darnley's Talisker Taste with 4,5 months.

The days spin away and soon Kirsten has to go back home again.

Just another picture with the dogs.

But already 10 days later we will meet Kirsten again at the shows in Vejen.

Q and Tasty.

Tasty and Ruby playing in the house.

Tday it is stormy weather with thunder and also hail!

A big parcel of land belongs to the summer house. We also have a private trail into the duns.

Already 10 years ago this provisional "gate" looked the same.

Pictures of a tour through the lovely dunes.

The whole gang has a lot of fun..

In the evening we are back at the house, ...

... where Tasty dreams from all the adventures.

Again the Summer house we rented this year. It is small, old and simple but for all that wonderful. It has a well covered terrace at the right side of the house. In the background you see the nice landscape with some other houses. In the evening there is a very special cosy athmosphere when we see the lights in some other houses.

In the opposite direction you have a marvellous view over the dunes and the North Sea (see below).

This year there are many lovely sunsets that we watch together with the dogs.

Nicole and Horst come for a barbecue together with their 3 Scotties Laura, Daphne and Reggae.

Reggae and Tasty are playing wild and loud.

Sir Darnley's Limelight Laura at nearly 11 years. She is the oldest in Nicole's Scottie family.

Laura is from the last litter of Multi Ch. Sir Darnley's Gretna Green.

When it's getting too cold outside we continue in the little house.

It is June. And we feel the nights in the North are much shorter than at home.  :-)

A walk in the near forrest.

The "Blåbjerg Klitplantage" is a big forrest not far from Henne Strand.

The last evening. It is a pity that specially holiday time runs so quickly.

Together with Nicole and Horst we celebrate this evening.

Next day - packing. Tasty does not want to be missed.

This lovely trail through the landscape of dunes always was our morning walk.

The last day is quite stormy. In the evening I just have to go to the water to see the athmospere.

This is North Sea. Sometimes smooth but mostly rough. I love it at any kind of weather.

Another wonderful sunset then we have to leave.

On our way home we stop at Vejen to participate at 2 CACIB shows. What a lucky break. :-)

Nearly 30 Scotties are entered both days. In Denmark competition is always tuff.

On Saturday Q is best male, BOB goes to Ch. Ayrzol Ozone.

Ch. Sir Darnley's Qubic Q, BR, Ch. Ayrzol Ozone, BOB

Our Ruby wins the CAC and by that she completes her Danish Dänischen Champion. She also is 2nd. best female behind Ozone.

On Sunday Ch. Ayrzol Ozone again is BOB. She also wins the Terrier Group and Best in Show! Congratulations for this outstanding bitch to her breeders and owners Lotte und John.

DK Ch. Sir Darnley's Rambling Ruby

Inbetween the shows we are located on a camping site close to Vejen, wherw we rented a cabin. Anne, Thomas and Spark brought their caravan to stay here as well.

The camping site is really big (10ha) but offers only 25 places for caravans and mobile homes. So there is plenty of room around. To us it seems that all campers are exhibitors in Vejen.

We spend a wonderful evening together with Anne and Tom while Spark and his mom Nellie discover the site. Finally Tom and Spark show their dance with the broom. :-)

Spark and Nellie

We ar already looking forward to your next trip to Denmark next year!
